GOOD BOY, starring Park Bo Gum and Kim So Hyun, made a powerful entrance with its first two episodes airing on May 31 and June 1. According to Nielsen Korea, GOOD BOY edged out its competitor, Our Unwritten Seoul, in ratings during its premiere.
GOOD BOY’s Debut Ratings Outpace Our Unwritten Seoul
The first episode of the multi-genre series GOOD BOY scored a nationwide rating of 4.8% in the Seoul metropolitan area, with a peak rating reaching 7.3% at its highest point. This rating surpassed the 4.5% recorded by the third episode of tvN’s Our Unwritten Seoul, which aired in the same time slot. Overall, GOOD BOY led its rival by a narrow margin of 0.3% in viewership.
Can GOOD BOY Match the Success of Heavenly Ever After?
There were high hopes for GOOD BOY as it took over the coveted timeslot from the hit drama Heavenly Ever After. While GOOD BOY had an impressive start, it fell short of matching Heavenly Ever After’s stellar debut, which garnered a 5.8% rating—1.0% higher than GOOD BOY’s premiere.
As the series progressed, the competition intensified. According to Newsen, when GOOD BOY aired its second episode and Our Unwritten Seoul aired its fourth, the latter pulled ahead with an average nationwide rating of 5.9%, compared to GOOD BOY’s 5.3%—a difference of 0.6%.
Being overtaken by a rival drama so soon isn’t ideal, but it’s still early in the run. The upcoming episodes will be crucial in determining whether GOOD BOY can live up to the success of Heavenly Ever After and maintain its spot in the ratings race.
